Enforcement What happens if the protection order is violated? CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY! If the respondent has been served with the Protection Order, but still makes contact with you, he or she can be immediately arrested, and may be charged with a crime of violating the Court Order (for example, coming to your workplace or calling you at home after being ordered not to). Before the police can arrest the respondent for the violation of the Order, the police must have proof that the respondent was served with the Order, and therefore know he/she was restrained from having contact with you. Ask your Legal Advocate how to make sure the respondent has been served with the Court Order.
